TMI * warning: if you are a GUY, you SOOO do not what to read this!*

* So, I'm giving you fair warning that this post is GIRL stuff, and by "stuff" I mean ... you know... stuff! Not very many guys read this, but if you are a guy, seriously, just stop here because this is more than you EVER wanted to know about me *

Okay, now that the guys are gone, I am just venting about being a girl. So, since I got married almost 6 years ago, I have had a grand total of 4 monthly visits from you know who. I should write a thank you note to Pregnancy and Nursing for staving off "the curse" for so long! You would think that by my age, I would be used to it, but it is still totally traumatizing! Granted, the whole messyness is irritating and uncomfortable, but when combined with the hormonal rebalancing, well, "irritating" is a gross understatement. Do you know that I almost burst into tears in the produce section of the grocery store today? What for? That's an excellent question. For which I have no answer and I can't even remember what I was thinking other than that my house was messy, and appearently the fruits and veggies seemed like something to cry over? Or maybe, it was empathy for the produce since I was feeling like a FRUIT today, and it was not pleasant.

Well, I obviously can't get out of this since we don't have any babies in our immediate future so I'll just have to rebuild my "How to deal" arsinal of tricks for conquering this little emotional hurdle. *sigh* Oh well.
So here's what I've done so far:
- reading scriptures
- visiting teaching (always nice, but I was definitly more harm than good with my toddlers running a muck!)
- do something productive (went to the store- hence the produce drama)
- treats (this didn't help, actually I think the high sugars and fats made it worse since my only clean pants are already too snug, and I do not need more mood altering chemicals in my system!!- mental note: AVOID brownies! Plus, they were not even very delicious.)
- took the kids to a quiet park

Will you PLEASE tell me what you do to feel better when you're overwhelmed, or feeling *blah* about life in general! I'd love some more ideas!

There are two things that make me feel better. Go to the temple either by yourself or with your husband or working out. Go to BYU by yourself (no kids) and workout. Hope you feel better. I had one of these days the other week. :-)

Oh Lucia!!! Just want to pass along that I love you! You are such a wonderful woman and I think you are amazing! Now that that has been said . . oh where to start! I've always told myself that I'm going to have a good chat with God when I get up there, but then realized that maybe I should chat with Eve! :) I've come to feel that even at those special times for us woman, Satan takes advantage and tries to make things worse! I think you are doing all the right things. I personally am on meds to help me with said problem, so I don't know if I'm much help with suggestions. Just like you're doing, get busy when you feel cruddy. Get your mind focused on other things. All women feel for ya! You're not alone in this! :)

I am SO right there with you... I have been so annoyed with myself the last couple days because I just can't shake my ornery-ness, and it's driving me crazy! No matter what I do, I still seem to feel the same way. It sounds like you're doing all the right things, though, so... I guess just keep up the good work, and in another couple days, we should be good, right? :) I am seriously so glad that I have the chance to be your friend--you are such an example to me of how I want to be, and it makes me feel better to know that you have these days, too.

Hey Lucia you are great! I second the temple idea. It works wonders. If you can't make it to the temple, music works sometimes too. Good luck, and remember this too shall pass :)

Oh, Lucia! I love you! You sure pull off being grumpy well - I didn't even notice that you didn't seem to be your usual cheerful bubbly self on Tuesday when we were together. I guess I need to be a more perceptive friend! I wish I could be as nice to be around as you are when I'm feeling blah. My solution for blah days are to get a babysitter and go out on the town for a couple hours, buy a treat, try on some cute clothes and turn up my stereo in the car. Bring your kids over anytime - Peter would love to have some friends over! And I would love for you to be able to have some time to yourself! Love you lots - thanks for being such a great friend!

I, too, love you and feel your pain! But only 4?? I can't believe it! I love all the comments and advice so far. My only additions would be that sometimes I call my mom or one of my sisters and just chat. They all live far away, but always understand what I'm feeling and can cheer me up. Also, I love going out to dinner on those days...there's something about food being made for you and no mess to clean up! Even if it's just to J-dogs, or Wendy's =). Oh, also, one time I had one of those days and Dave came home and took us bowling - it was awesome! I love the temple idea though...I'm gonna try that one next time!

Oh Lucia! I'm so sorry you're feeling so icky! But I'm just about a pro at this.... 6 years of monthlies with no pregnancy and nursing and cramps, vomiting, nausea, and migraines that incapasitate for days! :) So... here's my trunk of tricks:
-HOT BATHS and HOT PADS
-Sisters and friends
-I always get one good emotional outburst in and cry... then I always feel better (usually it is because I'm not pregnant... again), but I'm allowed, hormones suck.
-Oldie chick flicks (I'd go out in public, but there's no need to lay waste of so many people and beautiful places in the wake of hormonal destruction).
-(I agree with music, temple, scriptures, and daily prayer... it always seems more manageable when I remember those. Especially prayer, because alot of times, I can't understand certain trials and after a prayer or a blessing I am uplifted and able to find the strength I need to get up and continue being a mom and wife.)
-And dude, chocolate is SOOOOO allowed during this time of the month... go workout when you're not sick (if you get really sick like I do). Uh, I think I've revealed WAY too much and should be done now. But I love you and hope you feel better soon! P.S. When are you coming to Pocatello again? Taco Time has been calling to me recently.... or just a Lucia visit. :)
